YOUR Purpose YOUR Life
Your Creator has a beautiful plan for your life. He designed you with a specific purpose on purpose. It was His intention. Your identity, gifts, and talents weren’t by chance, but an intentional design created by God’s powerful hands. Only you can live YOUR life and fulfill YOUR calling.
But sometimes knowing which path to take and which direction to choose can be overwhelming. We overthink and allow confusion to take root while doubt clouds our judgment causing us to hesitate before we ever take that first step in faith.
Yet understanding God’s purpose doesn’t have to be confusing or even mysterious. While our path may not always be clear with neatly planned out steps and directions, we can always trust God to lead us.
How to Live With Purpose
As we muddle discerning God’s will for our life, we can trust that He will guide us. God doesn’t leave our calling to chance. Today, take time to reflect on these simple and practical steps to assist you as you step into your calling.
Seek the Lord
When you’re searching for the next step, ask God. Seek Him. Ask Him to reveal His purpose for your life – listen and be obedient. And, while He is faithful to lead the way, trust that He will reveal Himself to you in His perfect time.
As you seek and wait, ask for prayer. You can share as little or as much as you desire when asking for prayer. What is important is knowing the power of prayer. When you have others praying intercessory prayers on your behalf, it is powerful. Persevering prayer is life changing.
Rest in Him
While God is faithful to lead the way, trust that He will reveal Himself to you in His perfect time. Waiting for God to lead the way doesn’t have to be painful. He will use the waiting moments to refine your character as He teaches you to trust Him each day. It’s in the waiting where we learn to hope in Him alone.
In the waiting, I can be tempted to run ahead if I am not grounded in His word because His word reminds me of the importance of waiting on His perfect timing. And, although the waiting can be a bit uncomfortable, as I meditate on His words and focus less on my situation I focus more on God or what He is calling me to do at the moment which fills me with peace and contentment. Be comfortable in the waiting.
Seek Wise Counsel
As you prepare to follow God’s call on your life, I encourage you to seek a Biblical mentor to guide you. A Biblical mentor will listen, support, and pray with you. A mentor will also share her story and experiences with you. It’s important to understand mentorship should always be from God’s perspective.
As a Biblical mentor to many young women, I enjoy sharing scripture that will assist them in their waiting and seeking. It’s through authentic conversation and connection a young woman can share her thoughts and feelings while a Biblical mentor can support and encourage through God’s word. A mentor also provides confidential accountability.
Don’t Give Up
The path to living with purpose isn’t for the faint-hearted. In fact, God advises us in John 16:33 that life won’t be easy. When the hard days come and threaten to consume us, and they will, our encouragement and strength must come from our hope in God. As we step into our calling, we must remember these words when we feel like we want to give up.God will provide the help we need when we are carrying out our calling. Click To Tweet
He will surround us with encouragement and support providing for us every step of the way.
Find Your Tribe
I recall the years I spent working on my doctoral degree. It was grueling. I was a wife, mother to three sons, involved in the community, and I worked a full-time job as a Dean of Admission. There were moments when I wanted to quit, to give up. I was tired. I felt so alone, and I had little time outside of my numerous responsibilities. However, my support system would not allow me to quit.
My husband encouraged me and took on more than half of the household duties to support me. Our three sons supported me by assisting with errands, chores, and IT needs. I had colleagues that helped me and encouraged me daily. These women friends prayed for me and inspired me to press on. And, on those days that I felt lonely and unsure of the future, they were there to carry me. You see, life isn’t meant to be spent alone. We were not created to live life in isolation. God created us to be in fellowship with one another and this season in my life was one of those times where my tribe, my support system, cheered me on to the finish line.
You were Created for Such a Time
So, as we seek His will for our life, take a moment to be still and be present. Breathe in and exhale out. Reflect on nothing but the moment and know that God’s got you. He has a plan and a purpose for you. You were created for such a time as this and God will show you the way.
My most favorite go-to scripture in the waiting is Psalm 143:8. Show me the way I should go for to you I lift up my soul. Just ask Him. Seek God with all your heart, mind, and soul. I do!
I have those days where I have no idea what to do. I become overwhelmed, so I ask God to show me the next step. Show me what to do. It may be as simple as organizing my office or reading my devotional but whatever He asks you to do, do it. To fulfill your purpose, you must walk in obedience. Every woman leader in the Bible was obedient to God’s calling, and if we want to be Christian women influencers, we must be obedient to the one true God. You know the phrase, “pray and obey.” If you’re going to pray, you must obey!
As you are seeking His calling upon your life are you walking in obedience? Are you resting in faith? Are you seeking wise counsel? I encourage you to not give up – you are not alone. If you feel alone or unsure, call out to God. Seek His counsel. Find a Biblical mentor. And know this, God has created YOU for a
